William "Bill" Porter, 77, of Shipshewana, passed away at 8:28 pm, on Sunday, July 24, at his residence while surrounded by his family. He was born on March 17, 1945, in Thompsonville, MI, to Claire and Anna (Cheylava) Porter. On February 18, 1967 in Honor, MI he married Kristine Joyce Denune, she died January 24, 2015. Surviving are three sons, Billy Porter, Michael Porter and Brad (Brittney) Porter all of Shipshewana; daughter, Mechelle Porter of Ft. Wayne; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Porter, Chandler Johnson, Kyle (Shayntel) Porter, Erika Porter, Hunter Porter, Michael Houck, Tanner Porter; great granddaughter, Zendaya Smith; brother, George Porter of ElCajon, CA; three sisters, Shirley Parrotte of Beulah, MI, Donna Mallison of Springdale Township, MI, Marilyn Burley of Thompsonville, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers, Ed, Jim, Merle Dean, and Clyde Davis Porter. Bill had worked for Coachman Industry for 34 years and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoying playing cards, especially poker. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, July 29, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Saturday, July 30, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Shipshewana.
