Victor "Vic" DePompeo, 71, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 11, at his residence. He was born on September 30, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY, to Victor and Claire (Manfredi) DePompeo. On July 18, 1976 in Eklutna, Alaska he married Valerie Kirker, she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Koy "Victor" DePompeo of Richmond, VA; a daughter, Sarah (Cliff) Buell of Mesick, MI; granddaughters, Maraya and Bella Buell; a brother, Gregory (Denise) DePompeo of Richmond, VA; a sister, Denise (Chip) Steacy of Stroudsburg, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Vic had worked in sawmills, on the Alaskan pipeline and had done surveying work in Montana. He had also worked as a tree trimmer and most recently as a printer. He was a talented artist specializing in drawling and was a nature and animal lover, especially for his dogs. He was known as a talented woodworker and carpenter who was always very willing to help his family and friends with odd jobs. He was a talented cook and enjoyed playing harmonica. He had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and loved spending time with his family and friends. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday June 17, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 18, also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Pastor Eugene Bontrager. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. A time of fellowship will follow the services from 12 noon until 6:00 pm at the American Legion Post #210, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
