Ronald L. Swinehart, 75, of Bristol, left this earth to be with God, family, and friends on May 27, at his residence. He was born on August 12, 1945, in Sturgis, MI. to LeRoy F. and Dorothy F. (Cyphers) Swinehart. He worked for Weyerhauser Company in Middlebury as a press operator for several years. There he met his future wife, Nancy Zigler, they were married on May 7, 1972, in Middlebury. They lived on his parent’s farm in White Pigeon, MI. for six months. Then they bought their first farm on the north side of Bristol on State Road 15. Ten years later they bought their present farm on CR 4, Bristol. He worked for several companies after Weyerhauser as a Quality Control Inspector. He had to retire early due to health problems. His grandsons were the apples of his eyes and he loved spending every minute he could with them. His passion was raising, breaking, and showing horses, giving riding lessons, and judging horse shows. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of 49 years; a daughter Pam (Joshua) Smeltzer; two grandsons, Ray and Dennis Smeltzer; sister in-laws, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julia K. Swinehart; three brothers, Dick, Jim, and John Swinehart and his grandparents. Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 31, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main St., Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00 AM funeral on Tuesday, June 1, also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Pastor Dan Petry. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorial contributions may be given to Good Days, an association assisting individuals suffering from macular degeneration.
