Obituary

Ray A. Yoder, 82, of Middlebury, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5 at Goshen General Hospital.

He was born on May 20,1939 in Streetsboro, Ohio to Arthur Thomas and Lois (Detwieler) Yoder.  He married Mary Schrock on July 25, 1959 at Holdeman Mennonite Church, Wakarusa; she passed away May 10, 2014.

Surviving is his daughter, Laurie (Tim) Mast of Goshen; daughter-in-law, Bev Yoder of White Pigeon; granddaughters Audrey (Dan) Amsler of DeMotte and Robyn (Dan) Stinson of Alexandria; five great-grandchildren and one sister, Jane (Jerry) Detweiler, Goshen. He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Len Yoder who passed away May 11, 2015; sister, Mildred Myrhe and two brothers, Harold and Clair Yoder.

Ray came to Indiana for 1W Service at Elkhart General Hospital. He worked in sales most of his life including Fuller Brush, Weaver’s Woodcraft and House of DuMoor. He was a member of Holdeman Mennonite Church and enjoyed singing.  He sang in the Holdeman Men’s Quartet and the Mennonite Relief Sale Choir. You would most often find him spending time outside working in the garden and on the lawn. He also enjoyed woodworking.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 11, at Holdeman Mennonite Church, 65723 Co Rd 1, Wakarusa. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am on Friday, November 12, also at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastors Steve Slagle, Danny Jones and Tom Yoder. Memorial contributions may be given to the church. Burial will take place at Olive East Cemetery, Wakarusa.
