Nettie Irene Hochstetler, 89, of Shipshewana, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 3, at her residence. She was born on October 15, 1931, in LaGrange County, to Edward and Amelia (Miller) Slabach. On January 25, 1951, in Shipshewana, she married LeRoy Hochstetler, he died November 13, 2011. Surviving are five daughters, Betty (Jonas) Bontreger of Goshen, Erma (Dean) Bontrager, Katie (Glen) Bontrager both of Shipshewana, Darlene Ganger of Bradenton, FL, Dorothy (Dave) Frey of Shipshewana; four sons, Ervin (Lillie) Hochstetler of Bristol, Perry (Mary) Hochstetler of Wesley, AR, LaVern (Loranna) Hochstetler of Middlebury, Glenn (Geri) Hochstetler of Leesburg; 42 grandchildren, 133 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Katie Yoder of Shipshewana; two brothers, Chris (Ramah) Slabach, Edward Jr. (Irene) Slabach both of Shipshewana. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, LeRoy Jr. Hochstetler; granddaughter, Ida Fern Hochstetler, great-granddaughter, Jana Helmuth; two sisters, Ida Mae Bontrager, Mary Ellen Bontrager; brother, Ervin Slabach. Nettie was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 4 and all day Sunday, September 5 at the family residence, 8725 W. SR 120, Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Monday, September 6 also at the family residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Levi E. Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery, Shipshewana.
