Obituary

A visitation celebrating the lives of Nadine Burgoon, 94, and Carola Edith Burgoon, 63, mother and daughter-in-law will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main Street Middlebury, IN. Nadine was born April 11, 1926, and passed away June 2, 2020; Carola was born July 6, 1958 and passed away January 13, 2022.

 

Nadine is the daughter of Lisle and Clara (Shields) Chambers and widow of Wayne H. Burgoon, he died August 29, 2011. Surviving are two sons, Steven (Sandra) Horn of Sturgis, MI, Lisle Robert (Carola, deceased) Burgoon of Silver Springs, FL; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter-in-law; two brothers, Wayne Chambers, Robert Chambers; sister, Marian Milstead. Nadine was a homemaker and worked at the Essenhaus and Six Mile Cafe. She wintered with her husband in Lake Okeechobee, Florida for many years and lived there permanently the last few years. She was a terrific cook and loved her Bible study at church. Nadine loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.

 

Carola is the daughter of Raymond N. and Edith H. (Sonnenberg) Schumacher and is survived by her husband, Lisle "Robert" Burgoon. Survivors in addition to her husband are a son, Joshua Adam White of Plymouth; a brother, Robert R. Schumacher of Warsaw and a half-sister, Ellen Wisler of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents. Carola had worked for over 12 years at Syndicate Systems in Middlebury where she was a group leader, later she then worked for Shipshe Casuals in Shipshewana and as a cashier at Sam's Club in Florida.
