Mary A. Bontrager, 93, of Topeka, passed away at 11:30 am, on Monday, November 15, at her home of natural causes. She was born on February 23, 1928, in Plain City, OH, to Andy and Sarah (Beachy) Kurtz. On May 22, 1988, she married Amos D. Bontrager in Jamesport, MO; he died on October 4, 2003. Surviving are three step daughters, Katie (John) Hochstetler of LaGrange, Ida (LeRoy) Weaver of Shipshewana, Fannie (Perry) Lehman of Topeka; recent caregiver, Mary Schwartz; 62 step grandchildren, 288 step great-grandchildren, 156 step great-great -grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepsons, twin boys Eli and Levi and Ervin Bontrager; stepdaughter Mary Slabaugh; seven step grandchildren; three step great-great grandchildren; one step great-great granddaughter. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 16, and all day Wednesday, November 17, at Alvin Beechy, Jr. residence, 5355 W. 400 S. Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Thursday, November 18, at the same residence. Funeral services will be conducted by home ministers. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery- LaGrange.
