Thelma E. Horner
                            March 29, 1934 - September 17, 2019

Thelma E. Horner passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17
at Hospice House, Elkhart. She was born in 1934 in rural Paw Paw,
Michigan to Glenn and Louella (Warren) McKnight. She was married
December 31, 1955 in Paw Paw, Michigan to Glen Horner, he survives
in Goshen. Survivors in addition to her husband are her daughter,
Elaine (Linford) Martin of Middlebury, IN; a son, Carl (Stephanie)
Horner of Wakarusa, IN; seven grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Judy McKnight of Chippewa
Lake, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother,
Perry McKnight. Thelma graduated from Western Michigan University
in 1954 with an Associate Secretarial Degree and received a Master  
of Divinity Degree from Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland,
 
Ohio in 1987. She served as an administrative assistant of Mennonite
Board of Congregational Ministries from 1975 to 1978, Conference
Coordinator of Ohio Mennonite Conference from 1978 to 1982, and
Conference Coordinator of Illinois Mennonite Conference from 1995
to 1999. Thelma also served in pastoral ministry; co-pastoring with
her husband Glen at First Mennonite Church, Morton, Illinois;
Intentional Interim Pastor at Meadows Mennonite Church, Chenoa,
Illinois; and an interim with Glen at Orrville Mennonite Church,
Orrville, Ohio. After retirement Thelma and Glen resided in
Middlebury, Indiana and at Greencroft, Goshen, Indiana. She was a
member of Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen. Visitation will be
held from 1:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 22, at Miller-Stewart
Funeral Home, Middlebury, Indiana. A private graveside service will
be held at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury prior to the 11:00 AM
memorial service on Monday, September 23, at Waterford Mennonite
Church, 65975 State Rd. 15 Goshen. Pastor Terry Zehr will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Center for Hospice Care.

Dear Glenn and Family, Our prayers are with you as we mourn the
loss of Thelma. We appreciated her ministry among us at First
Mennonite Church of Morton, and we have fond memories of your
time together with us, Glenn. We pray that God will grant you His
