James A. Denune
February 28, 1954 -- March 24, 2019
James "Jim" A. Denune, 65, of Shipshewana, died at 2:20 am on
Sunday, March 24, at his residence, after a battle with cancer. He was
born on February 28, 1954, in Frankfort, MI, to Robert Lee and
Augustine (Breamer) Denune. On July 3, 1999, in Middlebury, he married
Pamala Burmingham; she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are
two daughters, Patricia (John) Little of Elkhart, Dusti (Chad) Pearson of
Shipshewana; two sons, Johnny Zalud of Shipshewana and Justin
Denune; three grandchildren, Angela Cook, Trealyn Moore, Parker
Little; four sisters, Brenda Geren of Benzonia, MI, Laura Johnson of
Athens, AL, Patricia Denune of Beulah, MI, Janice Wilson of
Shipshewana; brother, Larry Denune of Benzonia, MI. He was preceded
in death by his parents; brother, Robert Lee Denune; three sisters,
Jeanne Johnson, Kristine Porter, Cora Mullins. He loved spending time
with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing,
camping and traveling and was known as a jack of all trades. Jim loved
old cars and hot rods and spent many hours in the garage working on
cars and was a race car driver. He was an auto mechanic and an over-
the-road truck driver, which his wife joined him for several years.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 30 prior to a
4:00 pm funeral service at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury.
Memorials may be given to LaGrange County Cancer Society.
